A group of about 20 LGBT activists released a set of equality principles on Wednesday that they hoped would prompt all LGBT people to get more involved in the struggle for their rights.

“This is about looking forward, it is a grassroots effort to mobilize, empower, and inspire others to stand up and accept nothing less than full legal equality now,” said Paul Yandura, a Democratic strategist from Washington, D.C., and one of the activists who met in Dallas last weekend to discuss the current progress of the LGBT movement. “In many ways, the Dallas meeting was truly organic; the common thread between the participants was our desire to achieve full civil rights for the LGBT community faster.”
