Since it's now all but certain that the only hope for UAFA passage is for it to be included in the Comprehensive Immigration Reform, it's important to keep track of the progress (or the lack of) CIR is making in Congress.

For many immigration-related legislations such as UAFA, DREAM Act and RFA(Reuniting Families Act), CIR is both a blessing and a curse. Take UAFA as an example. First, a note on the legislative process would be helpful. Wednesday's session was simply a hearing. The bill did not advance today. In fact, the ranking member Jeff Sessions requested the record be held open for a week. This means that the members of the committee have a week to add information to the official record. However, the important part -- the public airing of the issue -- happened Wednesday. Don't expect any movement at least until next Thursday's Executive Business Meeting.
